ANNOTATION

This article investigated the nature of import substitution by studying various theoretical relations. The investigates showed that despite numerous relationships to determine the nature of import substitution, there is no single common relationship between economic scientists. Within the framework of the article, it was established that import substitution implies the process of developing competitive domestic production in order to replace imported domestic products. Along with this, import substitution takes into account its usefulness. This property of import substitution applies primarily to food. Taking into account the theory of factors of production, import substitution becomes profitable sufficient resources are available for the production of import-substituting goods. Since food products belong to the category of strategic products, since food production determines economic and national security in general. In this regard, the import of food products is appropriate and can further strengthen the economic power of the country.
