ANNOTATION
The article is dialed with the examination of the current state of the sphere of consumer services for the population. Problems that impede its effective functioning have been identified. There have been identified the main directions for the development of consumer services for the population in the long term. In particular, in the work, the author clearly defined consumer services for the population, which in his opinion is part of the service sector, one of the important areas of human economic activity, linking it with the creation of new, repair and modernization of existing goods and the satisfaction of newly emerging ones household needs, carried out according to individual orders of the population. The author also reveals that currently, the relevance of household services is increasing due to the growth of prosperity and the lack of free time among the working population, as they allow freeing up free time for rest, self-development and communication with others. The population's needs for household services are urgently needed. Household services make it possible to satisfy these needs; they complement the list of basic necessities. Therefore, we can confidently note the socio-economic importance of the sphere of consumer services and its direct connection with the task of improving the quality of life of the population.
