ANNOTATION

The article reviews the country study activities of the Russian officer P.S. Skvarsky, a district bailiff of Uratyube of Khujand district. P.S. Skvarsky collected and studied a large amount of information on the archaeological monuments of Ustrushana. By the instruction of the board of the Turkestan circle of archeology, P.S. Skvarsky conducted a study of monuments in Uratyube and Shahristan. Valuable material was collected and summarized; interesting conclusions were drawn. Although P.S. Skvarsky had no special training, but his works are a valuable source on the archeology of Ustrushan. The authors of the article show that PS Skvarsky's conclusions are based on the results of the study. Such works of regional experts are an important source for studying the history of archeology and historiography of the colonial period.
