ANNOTATION

The article is the first to review the measures of weight and area of Tajiks in the mountain principalities of highland (Kishtud, Magiyan, Matcha, Falgar, Fon) in the end of XIX - beginning of XX centuries. It states that the population used local measures, which differed in size from the measures of large cities, such as Bukhara, Samarkand, Ura-Tyube with which trade was carried out. Measures of weight were at the same time measures of the sown area of land, but there were also square measures of land (tanab). These measures were widely used in socio-economic relations, and completely satisfied the inhabitants of Highlands.
