ANNOTATION

The article dwells on bilateral relations between Ukraine and Kazakhstan during the tenure of the President Viktor Yushchenko (as a person determining the country`s foreign policy) from January 2005 to January 2010 using a methodology that combines analysis of cooperation at the highest political level in the context of Ukraine`s political uncertainty in internal politics and aggravation of its relations with Russia. The exploration aims to study the nature of relations between countries using a complex perspective, considering traditional channels of foreign policy. The main emphasis in the research process is made on analysis of internal Ukrainian events and their impact on the course and dynamics of foreign policy and relations with Kazakhstan, in particular. The main conclusion is that both states focus exclusively on pragmatic nature of relations focusing on the economy and ignoring the domestic political agenda in both states. For Kazakhstan and Ukraine these relations are not key, but are important in economic and regional significance based on the common historical past either
