 ANNOTATION

The article argues that pedagogical support of the process of development of self-sufficiency of future teachers of a foreign language under the conditions of the credit educational system requires solving certain problems, including the problem of mastering with reading skills being considered to be an important part of students` self-sufficient work. In her article the author describes the organization of self-sufficient work of students who study at the language faculty on reading socio-political materials in the process of self-sufficient work on the course referred to as “Current Events” (Currentevents).Tasks of work on the socio-political material, criteria for its selection and methodology for working on it are determined as well.
