 ANNOTATION

The article discusses the issue of developing students' oral speech competence in an English lesson while studying the topic “Sports”. It is noted that the educational topic of sports is one of the favorite educational topics of students of all school ages. It is emphasized that students must learn to communicate, analyze, compare and draw conclusions about educational materials, taking into account the abilities and needs of junior and primary students. Observation, study and analysis of the results of implementing a competency-based approach to education show that English teachers step by step understand the essence of a competency-based approach to education, which meets the interests of the work. It is concluded that students' communication skills develop in English lessons during speaking, listening, reading and writing.
