The author ponders which sequence will be more effective in teaching watercolor painting: before acquiring skills in working with pencil and gouache, or vice versa. In the process of observing the work of students with various graphic and visual materials, the author comes to the conclusion that it is difficult for students to quickly switch from one material to another in the early stages of art education, especially in the watercolor style.
