 ANNOTATION

The article is devoted to the issue of light, the mechanism of vision, the propagation of light, etc. in antiquity and the medieval Muslim East. Based on primary sources and published materials, the authors of the article briefly describe the general level of physical knowledge about optics in antiquity and the Middle Ages. It is argued that a high level of physical knowledge of geometric optics was achieved in the medieval Muslim East. The article is interdisciplinary in nature and is written in a combination of physics and history, which will be useful for researchers in this field. It is addressed to physicists, historians, orientalists, and above all, specialists in the history of physical, mathematical and technical sciences.
