ANNOTATION
The article dwells on translation of ghazals of the Tajik-Persian poet who lived in the XIV-th century Hafiz Sherozi into English, in which there is an abundance of idioms, phraseological combinations, proverbs and sayings. It is emphasized that certain phraseological units that were used by the poet are invention of the poet himself, and passing from mouth to mouth these stable expressions entered the everyday speech of the people. Having studied the materials on the topic, the author reinforces his views with factual material and comes to the conclusion that translators, translating ghazals into English were able to convey the depth of the poet`s thought to the English reader, regardless of the presence or absence of equivalents and phrases in the translated language.
