ANNOTATION

The article dwells on the issue beset with textual value of “Commentary on Hofiz`s Divan” by Sudi Busnavi. It is underscored that in his commentary Sudi has paid special attention to the textual issues in reference to Hofiz`s poetry and in Hofiz studies established the authenticity of the poet`s poems, a particular ghazal or beit belonging to Hafiz`s pen, for the first time. The author lays an emphasis upon the idea that the commentator resorted to eleven lists of Hofiz`s divan and began to interpret only after collation, comparison and selection of the most reliable text, on the whole. It is testified that Sudi`s mission is not only in interpreting the meaning and semantics, but in identifying inaccuracies of the text in different lists, errors of scribes, attribution of Hofiz`s poems either. To sum it up, she comes to the conclusion that the theme explored are of great textological significance and help in the correct attribution and authentication of the poet`s verses and a particular passage belonging to the pen of Hofiz; reliability of words in his poems and other issues dealing with textual criticism being taken into account as well.
