ANNOTATION

The article dwells on the problem beset with political confrontation between Gurid state and Khorezmshahs referring to the first quarter of the XIII-th century. In the course of writing the article, the author resorted to and analyzed primary narrative sources, such as “Tabakoti Nosiri” by Minhoj Siroja Juzjani, “Al-Kamil fi-t-ta`rih” by Ibn al-Athir, “Ta'rihi Jahonkusho” by Atamalik Juwaini and others those ones after the death of brothers - Giyasuddin Muhammad and Shihabuddin Muhammad, from 1206, a period of weakening of Gurid state has begun. It is indicated that, despite desire of subsequent sultans to preserve the state, the empire was nevertheless fragmented by Khorezmshahs state. In conclusion, the author underscores that at the beginning of the XIII-th century, division of the state into several parts and emergence of separatism made it easier for the sultan of Khorezmshahs - Alauddin Muhammad to gradually conquer territories of Gurid state promoting significantly to development of the political and socio-economic life of the peoples of Central Asia.
