ANNOTATION

In the presented work, as part of the consideration of the problem of sustainable development, it is proposed, along with increasing the efficiency of the use of energy resources, to investigate and discuss the problems of environmental safety and competitiveness of new, non-traditional energy sources, such as, for example, solar energy. The production of silicon and other materials of such energy is associated with energy-intensive chemical and metallurgical processes, as a result of which large amounts of waste are generated, similar to the production of thermal and electrical energy  by burning fossil energy carriers. On this basis, it is argued that in the foreseeable future, it is not the production of photovoltaic products that can be considered environmentally friendly, but only the operation of the final product in the form of photovoltaic modules and stations.
