ANNOTATION 

The article dwells on the issue concerned with theoretico-methodological grounds targeted at the study of labour potential. It is underscored that theory of the former in question has not yet been fully elaborated, there is no complete unity among researchers on its conceptual basis, and the position of labour potential in a categorical series of other socio-economic concepts is not determined. In the course of the study the author identifies that formation and usage of labour potential as a subject of economic relations, norms and institutions is considered to be a part of labour market. In reference to it, the author canvasses the relationship between the notions of “labour capacity”, “labour force” and “labour resources”.

The author lays an emphasis upon the idea that the relevant aspect of socio-economic content of labour potential is specific to the region, but to a lesser extent, as it is not excessive in all regions of the world, where the amount of labour potential exceeds its needs.
