ANNOTATION

The authors analyze the works of foreign and native psychologists who have studied the professional development of the personality. They review the works of scientists involved in career guidance work with senior students. A working definition of "career guidance of self-determination" is given. Besides a number of reasons have been identified that make it difficult to choose a profession independently. The role of the family in the formation of awareness of the choice of profession is analyzed. The types of teachers’ career guidance work are proposed in accordance with the characteristics of students different ages. It is noted that the educational area "Technology" has a huge career guidance potential. Various options for career guidance work that a class teacher can use are given. Various methods of work of a school psychologist with high school students are described, which make it possible to give recommendations on the further professional path.
