 ANNOTATION

The article dwells on structural, ideological and belles-lettres peculiarities of mesnevi Oshagh nameh” by Ubayd Zokoni. It is underscored that Oshagh nameh was written based on those Persian-Tajik lyric poems, the content consisting of an exchange of ten or thirty letters between lovers. The composition of the poem is designed on the premise of description of love, relationship between the lover and beloved, conversations between them, interference of rivals, indifference of the lover to his mistress. However, unlike the above-mentioned poems, in Oshagh nameh the lover and beloved do not exchange letters, but their message is transmitted through the eagle and wind. A series of events that took place on the path of love between a lover and beloved is described narrated through a narrator and the poet himself. Oshagh nameh consists of thirty-three sections, six of which contain only ghazals. It is emphasized that one of the innovative and structural peculiarities of this poem is introduction of ghazal into mesnevi composition, alongside with his four ghazals the poet adduced two ghazals of the XIII  century poet Humam-i Tabrizi and several bayts of Nizami Ganjavi. It is pointed out that there is no ending in mesnevi, that is, the author does not inform his readers whether the lover and beloved will be reunited after separation, the poem has an open ending. There is a wide use of means of artistic expression, tajnis, tansik-us-sifat and tarse being one of the features of Ubayd Zokoni`s poetic skill in mesnevi.
