 ANNOTATION

Khujand is one of the oldest cities in Central Asia. Archaeological excavations on the territory of the Khujand fortress have revealed the stratigraphy of the monument. The cultural layers of all periods of the city's life for almost 3 thousand years are presented here archaeologically. The layers of the antique period (IV-II centuries BC - IVcenturies AD) are of particular interest. Khujand of this period was known in written sources as Alexandria Eskhata - a city built by Alexander the Great. The authors of the article consider the archaeological materials of pits and excavations related to the ancient period of the history of Khujand.
