 ANNOTATION

The article dwells on theoretical issues of the translation of the culture-specific items in literary text. It is emphasized that the national and cultural characteristics of the people, expressed by various means of language, are most clearly and comprehensively reflected in fiction. In this regard, the article analyzes the means of transferring the cultural component, presented by different theoreticians of translation. The article also points to the fact that lexical units with a national-cultural component make up a large group of units designated in translation theory as the concept of non-equivalent vocabulary, which attracts the attention of both Russian and foreign scientists in this field.

KEY WORDS

literary text, national-cultural component, means of transfer, non-equivalent vocabulary, translation theory, transcription/transliteration, calquing, loose translation, functional analogue, description, contextual translation.
