ANNOTATION
The article dwells on the cultural and educational activities of such institutions as libraries, houses of culture, urban and rural clubs. Proceeding from numerous sources the author of the article adduces information concerned with fruitful work of women in cultural and educational institutions of our country. It is stated that after the adoption by the Supreme Council of the republic under the decision of “On the State and Measures to Improve the Work of Cultural and Educational Institutions of the Tajik SSR” in 1968, educational activities gained a new impetus. Clubs, libraries, houses of culture were opened everywhere promoting formation of a scientific worldview, labor, patriotic and international education of the country`s population. The cultural and educational institutions of villages promoting introduction of new customs, traditions, and rituals on collective farms contributing into development of a socialist way of life. It is asserted that in the period from 1961-1980 there were 885 libraries in Tajikistan, and already in 1982 there were more than 1058 libraries with a book fund of 13,495 thousand copies throughout the country, upon the whole.
