 ANNOTATION

The article dwells on the international scientific activity of academician B. Gafurov; strengthening of international relations of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the USSR Academy of Sciences, Soviet orientalists with foreign scientists and the international organization UNESCO being taken into account as well. The authors lay an emphasis upon the idea that academician B. Gafurov made a great contribution into the implementation of UNESCO projects “East-West”, “The Study of Central Asia Civilization”.Within the frameworks of these projects, especially the second project on B. Gafurov`s initiative a number of international conferences, symposia and scientific meetings of scientists from different countries were held
