ANNOTATION

This article examines the issues of import substitution strategy through the prism of ensuring food security. Consideration of the possibilities of import substitution in the food sector of the Republic of Tajikistan shows that the country's agricultural sector does not properly use its existing potential. Analysis of food production in the context of livestock and crop production showed that for a certain name of imported food, the agricultural sector of the republic has significant potential conditions. First of all, this concerns the production of cattle meat, poultry meat, eggs, various dairy products, potatoes, various vegetables, fruits, etc. In order to maximize the effective use of the country's existing capabilities in stimulating import-substituting economic growth, the author proposes to use the potential of consumer cooperation. The effectiveness of this measure is explained by the fact that the bulk of food is produced in personal subsidiary plots of the population and small dekhkan farms. We believe that the implementation of the above measures will help reduce import dependence and self-sufficiency of the country with food, which will ultimately strengthen the food security of the republic.
